Clean Money San Antonio

Working to enact Public Financing of City Council and Mayoral Campaigns

Clean Money San Antonio is an outgrowth of San Antonio Democracy NOW! (SADN), a coalition formed after the November 2000 elections in response to the severe subversion of the democratic process that was the Nov. 2000 elections.

After about a year, the group decided that they should focus on one issue of Election Reform. The consensus was to focus on publicly-financed campaigns.

With this decision Clean Money San Antonio was born in late 2001.

Predominantly there has been a core group that hovers around 10 people - all from San Antonio - who represent various groups that were in the SADN coalition - the Bexar Co. Green Party, the NEBC Democrats, the Sierra Club, and the Maverick Alliance, plus several independent individuals.

There have been others - groups and individuals - who have made contributions to this effort as well. There are several hundred people on our mailing list and our efforts have been endorsed by several groups that represent thousands of San Antonians.
